We have a supernatural desire to be holy, to care about the things of the Lord, to care about
righteousness and justice of the Father. However when we try to
apply holiness without equally operating in the other attributes of
God; compassion, graciousness, long suffering, being slow to anger,
abounding in steadfast love, hoping in all things, etc. our judgment
will not be correct. Likewise if we focus only on love without
loving holiness and justice, we will also miss the mark. We will
flounder on each end of the spectrum between legalism and license and
our judgment and actions will be wrong every time!
What can we do?! How then are we able
to maneuver in all the difficult life situations that call for a
response? We must do as Jesus did. We must be in constant communion
with the Father via the Holy Spirit. We must be constantly
connected, seeking the Father, and in complete obedience to the
direction the Holy Spirit gives or we will use a hammer when a
feather is needed; and use a feather when a hammer is needed. But
even as I contemplate this, does God ever use a hammer? Perhaps it
seems so to us, but He always applies just the right amount of
pressure, just the right consequences, just the right justice, just
the right loving words of instructions for each relationship.
This seems like such a tall order to us
frail humans, but thanks be to God He is with us right here, right
now, moment by moment, with the words or actions we need in real
time. Glory to God in the Highest!
